Rapala: We Fish for Wii announced by Activision

Activision has brought us some impressive games such as Prototype and the new Wolfenstein. Now Activision Publishing has announced Rapala: We Fish for the Wii, an all new entry in its Rapala fishing franchise. The title is the first of its kind designed specifically for the Nintendo home console, and even comes with the Rapala fishing rod and reel peripheral.

“We’ve partnered with Rapala to develop a new type of fishing game that focuses on arcade style family fun for the Wii,” commented David Oxford, Activision Publishing. “Combining responsive controls with an action-packed, humorous direction, we have created a fishing game that’s unlike anything out there.”

“We love Activision’s fresh, colorful approach to Rapala: We Fish,” exclaimed Kelly Brockpahler, Rapala. “It doesn’t matter if you are a fisherman in real life, this game lets players of all ages and abilities have a ‘laugh out loud’ good time!”

The game features a “pick up and play” approach to gaming and has five game modes which include co-op tournaments, 4 player split-screen and multiplayer modes. Players can choose from five different funny characters or simply play as their Mii, as they travel to eight scenic locations around the world to compete in 24 tournament style events. The game features more than 50 different whacky fish species.

The game is a bundle of fun, with the fish having whacky personalities and side-splitting facial expressions themselves. Players must race their boats to the prime fishing locations before the competition and be weary of opponents who can knock the fish out of their boat. Rapala: We Fish is scheduled to release on September 29, 2009 for the Wii, but the price of the game is now known.
