Nintendo DS Lite to Retail for $99.99

We’ve already seen a price drop on the Wii price tag and now it’s another product from the Nintendo family which has us counting our pennies. The gaming giant has announced that the Nintendo DS Lite will be available at a reduced price of $99.99 in the US starting this month. While making this revelation, the company also disclosed a new Nintendo DS package bundled with six Mario games in red.

“From the moment it launched, Nintendo DS Lite hit a sweet spot for consumers in terms of value, experience and fun,” remarked Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime. “This new price point will introduce Nintendo DS Lite to even more consumers, and the new red packaging will make it easy for them to find their favorite Mario titles.”

Clearly standing out apart from other DS bundle, the newly unveiled six game DS pack has been covered in red. This assortment includes Mario & Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story, Super Mario 64 DS, New Super Mario Bros., Mario Party DS, Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Mini-Land Mayhem! and Mario Kart DS. According to the NPD Group, these titles have reached millions of homes within the US. The company is said to have sold over 7.40 million Mario Kart DS and 9.25 million New Super Mario Bros. copies by the end of April 2011 in the country.

The Nintendo DS Lite will be up for grabs from June 5 at 99.99 USD (approx. Rs. 4,493) for gamers across the US. The red-colored Nintendo DS pack is expected to hit stores this month but we’ve not heard of its exact release date or pricing details.
