The announcement is a part of the developer’s celebration of ten years of PC mil-slim games. This title was originally published by Codemasters in June 2001 and a Resistance expansion pack was later released in 2002. Both the game and the pack can be downloaded for free by owners of Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis and its GotY edition. The game will subsequently be made available in various online stores.

Marek Spanel, CEO of Bohemia Interactive, revealed, “After all these years of continuous support and improvements we are delighted to be able to unite our lineup of military simulators for PC under the Arma brand. This step will not only avoid potential confusion amongst users and the wider gaming public, but it will also preserve what is now a classic PC game for years to come as it could no longer be available under its original name.”

The game will be equipped with a complete set of editing tools and on-going support for the hoards of mods available online. Bohemia has also declared that as a part of the 10 years celebration, ‘more exciting releases will be made in the coming days and weeks ahead.’

Bohemia is yet to announce an exact release date for Arma: Cold War Assault.
