Duke Nukem Forever Developer Working on Gears of War 3

There are a plethora of new features that are being introduced in Gears of War 3 which include mechs, weapon specific melee kills, 4 player co-op and so forth. From the leaked set of screens from a Russian magazine which have been running around the internet, we also caught a glimpse of the color palette that looks to be more varied and colorful than the previous iterations of the game.

Adding to this, we found a profile of Pete Knepley, an ex-employee of 3D Realms currently working on Gears of War 3. What is interesting to note that this developer worked on the XBLA port of the iconic game Duke Nukem 3D and the long lost Duke Nukem Forever. Running a search on the internet, this individual worked on some really awesome attributes of the game while he was working on Duke Nukem Forever:

-Integrated gameplay systems from Duke Nukem Forever’s single player campaign into the multiplayer mode using Unreal’s actor replication model.
-Created and maintained multiplayer game types on Duke Nukem Forever.
-Fixed bugs with the physics and gameplay systems. Had to debug the UnrealScript interpreter on occasion.
-Helped rapid prototype new gameplay systems and weapons.

As seen, he was largely responsible in crafting the multiplayer component of the game which is something that Epic needs to desperately work on, since Gears of War 2 was riddled with bugs in the multiplayer component of the game. The community has already been enticed with a teaser of the game and there is a definite showcase of the game at this year’s E3 which in all probabilities will showcase gameplay footage.
