Iron Man 2 Details Announced by Sega

Iron Man is a superhero from the Marvel Comics universe and has featured in many animated TV shows, video games and films. Now, Sega has revealed details about the yet to be released Iron Man 2 video game. The action game’s story will be written by acclaimed comic book author Matt Fraction and will include elements from both the comic book and movie franchises.

Matt Fraction stated, “Iron Man 2 presented me with the challenge and opportunity to work with both Sega and Marvel on creating something wholly unique- a story that exists at the cross-roads of the comic I write, the film universe which I was lucky enough to be asked to contribute to, and a wholly- immersive interactive experience like a game. A game presents an entirely new challenge, where the audience/consumer/player engages with the world, with the big and small aspects of the place and characters. They’re a co-conspirator in the narrative. I hope it’s as exciting and challenging to play as it was to write.”

The bad guys have their eyes set on the revolutionary technology made by Tony Stark. It is now up to him to wear the Iron Man suit and stop that powerful technology from getting into the wrong hands. Apart from featuring new combat moves, colossal enemies and destructible game environments, the upcoming game will exclusively feature the villainous Crimson Dynamo.

Sega Europe, European Marketing Director, Gary Knight exclaimed, “The first Iron Man film raised the awareness of this popular comic hero to new heights in Europe. We are excited to be working with Marvel again on this second iteration and having Matt Fraction on board to create a truly original script for the game means fans are in for a treat!”

Working on the feedback received from Iron Man videogame fans, the game now sports a redesigned control scheme. Iron Man 2 is expected to be out in stores in spring of 2010 and will be available for Nintendo DS, Xbox 360, PS3, Wii and PSP. Sega is yet to give any official confirmation about the pricing.
