My Xbox Live App Arrives for Android, iOS Version Updated

The My Xbox Live app from Microsoft has finally hit the Google Play Store for Android devices, while its iOS counterpart has received new functionalities with a fresh update. The latter version even gets support for the retina display trait that is available with the new iPad.

The free Android version of this app enables gamers to view, manage and send messages to friends, manage friend lists and invite more of them, compare their achievement progresses, read and edit their profiles, change their avatar features and items as well as access recent activity. The app will function only on devices running Android 2.2 and further, and those that have WGVA screen resolution or higher.

“We’re also updating the My Xbox Live app on iPad, which allows you to connect to the Xbox LIVE community when you’re away from your Xbox. With today’s update, we have added retina display support, and improved authentication making connecting your iPad with your Xbox Live account easier than ever,” Xbox Live’s Major Nelson wrote on his official blog.

New features have also been infused into the iPhone version of this app. These include the ability to learn more about favorite content and control it via popular entertainment services on the Xbox 360. Commands like play, pause, fast forward and rewind will be available to be issued directly from the iPhone. Furthermore, a new Discover section of the app will enable gamers to find fresh entertainment through their smartphones.

Both the Android as well as iOS versions of the My Xbox Live app are currently available to download for free via the Google Play Store and the App Store respectively.
