Microsoft Announces Service Providers for Upcoming Xbox Live TV

About forty TV and entertainment providers from around the world will apparently be delivering content on Microsoft’s Xbox Live TV which is planned for a Christmas launch this year. This service is expected to be delivered in over twenty countries by providers like Bravo, Comcast, HBO GO, Verizon FiOS, Syfy, BBC, Telefonica, Rogers On Demand, Televisa, ZDF, MediaSet and more.

Live and on-demand TV, movies, games, sports and music will make their way into the service once it is outed through Xbox Live. A number of networks like AT&T, Netflix and Hulu+ are already delivering video content on the console. The Xbox 360 is supposedly the first console to offer access these many service providers. Moreover, Steve Ballmer, Chief executive of Microsoft had revealed earlier that the Xbox Live TV shall also feature Kinect integration.

Don Mattrick, president of the Interactive Entertainment Business at Microsoft, explained, “Today’s announcement is a major step toward realizing our vision to bring you all the entertainment you want, shared with the people you care about, made easy. Combining the world’s leading TV and entertainment providers with the power of Kinect for Xbox 360 and the intelligence of Bing voice search will make TV and entertainment more personal, social and effortless.”

Sports lovers would be pleased to know that the service will bring live and on-demand content from ESPN in the U.S., UFC in the U.S. and Canada, GolTV in Spain and Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment in Canada. News, music and other content would also be delivered by well known networks all over the world. Furthermore, the Kinect will allow users to search for online data using just their voice.

Microsoft is set to launch the Xbox Live TV with all the above mentioned service providers this Christmas, but the company is yet to reveal a definite release date of this feature.
