Previously Sega has announced strategy games including Universe at War: Earth Assault. Now Sega has sent word about Stormrise, a real time strategy game for the next-gen consoles. Stormrise is set in a post-apocalyptic Earth where the technologically advanced Echelon take on the tribal faction Sai.
Gary Knight is the European Marketing Director at SEGA Europe. He said, “The Creative Assembly have proven their general leadership in developing RTS games through the award winning ‘Total War’ series on PC. However, Stormrise has been built from the ground up specially for high def consoles to offer a more intense, frenetic style of game that, coupled with the all new control mechanic, will revolutionize the way RTS games are played.”
Stormrise sees gamers play from the front line rather than the conventional way of controlling the units from a detached view point. Also, players will be able to send units not only on the surface or the air, but also underground. According to Sega, this verticality brings in multiple layers of gameplay, which have to be mastered for strategic advantage. They have also made effective control system that will make unit selection, rapid navigation and precise deployment easy for console gamers.
Stormrise is presently being developed by The Creative Assembly’s Australia studio. It will be released on the PS3 and the Xbox 360. The RTS game is expected to be out next year.
