PES 2016 is going free-to-play next month

PES 2016 is all set to adopt a free-to-play model this December, even as Konami has decided to take a fresh approach to market the football game. Under this version, a limited portion of the much loved title will be made available for free, with the facility for gamers to pay for the full version if they like it.

What’s interesting is that only the PS3 and the PS4 consoles will be receiving this free-to-play version of Pro Evolution Soccer 2016 on December 8. We’re not sure what has prompted Konami to refrain from offering the same to PC, Xbox 360 and Xbox One gamers.

As revealed by IGN, this entry-level version of the hit title will feature an Exhibition Mode comprising of seven star-studded teams. These have been confirmed to include the likes of Juventus, Bayern Munich, AS Roma, Brazil and France.

Additionally, a full training section will also be available to free-to-play gamers, aside from unlimited access to PES’ MyClub feature. This latter trait is probably where micro-transactions will come into play, as players will be available to pick stars via ‘points acquired through success in matches or with MyClub coins.’ Of course, you can do those two things or just pay real money to get the coins.

It has been made clear by Konami that the new free-to-play version of PES 2016 will include all the upcoming gameplay and content updates as well as new roster enhancements. This is great news for those who wish to try out the title before actually buying the full version.

Like we said, the free-to-play version of PES 2016 will be reaching the PS3 and the PS4 on December 8.
