Fans choose Peyton Hillis as Madden NFL 12 Cover Athlete

Back in March, we reported about EA’s unique interactive communication with fans of their popular sports simulation title. Following the conclusion of the five week bracket-style voting campaign, the gaming giant recently disclosed that Peyton Hillis has been selected as the Madden NFL 12 cover athlete by enthusiasts.

Although it’s not really new for companies to engage gamers in this manner, the Madden NFL 12 Cover Vote has been touted as a successful attempt. The campaign is said to have garnered about 12 million votes with a major section of the participants choosing Peyton Hillis over other nominations.

While Cleveland Browns running back Hillis will appear on the cover of the title, its Hall of Fame Edition too has found a new face. The Limited Edition Madden NFL 12 Hall of Fame Edition will display Marshall Faulk. This former St. Louis Rams running back is also the first cover athlete who will become a part of the Pro Football Hall of Fame later in the year.

The limited Hall of Fame Edition manifests a premium bronze cover with Faulk sprinting vigorously. It will also encompass a full copy of the game along with one of four exclusive Faulk autographed Panini cards. One lucky Xbox 360 and PS3 copy will come packed with one solid, 18k gold signed card each.

This edition of the title has been enclosed with an exclusive Madden Ultimate Team Platinum Pack. This bundle features a combination of 13 NFL Hall of Famers and cover athletes such as Jerry Rice, Marshall Faulk, Barry Saunders, Rod Woodson, Drew Brees, Donovan McNabb and Vince Young. Others on the roster include Michael Vick, Eddie George, Larry Fitzgerald, Troy Polamalu, Ray Lewis and Shaun Alexander.

Madden NFL 12 has been slated to release on August 30, 2011 for the Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, PS2, PSP and Nintendo 3DS. Gamers can pick the limited Madden NFL 12 Hall of Fame Edition will be available for 89.99 USD (approx. Rs. 4,033).
