Back in January, we reported that EA Sports plans to unfurl NBA Jam onto the Nintendo Wii gaming console. The upcoming basketball title is expected to breathe life back into the classic franchise with vintage NBA Jam gameplay as well as new features. The company revealed that the game will see a mixture of old school and new elements.
It now seems that EA has truly kept their old school promise. As MTV Multiplayer suggest, the NBA Jam game for Wii will feature players like Larry Bird and Magic Johnson. This piece of information was disclosed by NBA Jam creative director, Trey Smith when he was questioned about the different modes in the game. Smith let the information slip while discussing about the Classic Campaign mode.
Trey Smith told the website, “Whoever wins the (2010 NBA) championship, they’ll be the second-to-last team, and then we’ll have a legendary battle. Right now it’s slated: Magic and Bird.”
Besides the two known names, Trey Smith would not divulge more information on any of the other secret characters. For now we at least know that the company is sticking to their old-school theme with the inclusions of Magic Johnson and Larry Bird.
No word however on the exact pricing and availability details of NBA Jam for the Wii.
