PES 2010 For Wii to Release in Autumn, says Konami

Konami rocked the sports gaming world after announcing that it had signed Fernando Torres and Lionel Messi as cover athletes for Pro Evolution Soccer 2010. Now, the company has revealed that the Wii version of PES 2010 will be released this autumn.

The Wii game’s graphics have been improved and it will feature several new additions to the Master League thanks to UEFA Champions League license elements. Producer, Akiyoshi ‘Greyhound’ Chosogabe and his team have done their part by enhancing the gameplay with the Champions Road and Master League modes.

PES 2010 will showcase a brand new balance system which will decide the defensive and attacking set up of a team. The instantaneous stamina feature will prevent players from making unbeatable runs a constant part of their strategy. Excessive sprinting will have an undesirable effect on a player’s body balance and immediate ball control while many attempts to try and gain possession of the ball will deplete the player’s stamina.

A significant amount of importance has been given to the controls which adapt to the various contexts within a match. Defenders will have to work together to keep attackers at bay and also find the best possible methods to close them down. To beat the opponent defenders while dribbling, attackers with the ball will be able to perform ‘AI feints’ depending on their ability levels.

The new free kick system allows gamers to aim using a pointer system while giving them the kicker taker’s view of the set piece. Depending on how good the kick taker is, players will be able to add extra pace and swerve to their free kicks. Improved animations will show players signaling for passes and these controls will allow users to move their keeper earlier in matches where they go up against others players.

Akiyoshi ‘Greyhound’ Chosogabe stated, “The stakes have been raised and PES 2010 for Wii shows that Konami can still innovate and surprise. Our control system for Wii is still regarded as the finest and most intuitive around, and we have once again reworked it to add a level of control and realism that can appeal to new and old PES fans alike.”

Developed by Konami, PES 2010 will be available for PS3, PSP, Wii, PS2, Xbox 360, PC-DVD and mobile phones this autumn, while prices have not been announced.
