EA Sports FIFA 10 witnesses record-breaking launch

The most recent title in the exciting FIFA series, FIFA 10 hit shelves just last week. The latest announcement from EA now reveals that the title has reportedly sold over 1.7M copies at European retail stores in just its first week of release.

Claimed to be the biggest sports game launch ever, the title seems to have picked up really soon among dedicated fans. The company further shares that the game is supposed to be the fastest selling sports game ever and also it’s biggest European launch till date.

“We were confident that FIFA 10 would be a hit, and this week fans across Europe have shown just how much they love this game,” remarked Peter Moore, President of EA Sports. “We are incredibly proud of FIFA 10 and this kick-off for great, authentic football competition.”

With review scores of 92 and 91 for the PS3 and Xbox 360 respectively, FIFA 10 has launched to widespread critical acclaim. Set in record numbers, fans across Europe seem to have been attracted towards the FIFA 10 online feature experience too. Over 10 million gaming sessions have been played online since its launch. Reportedly the feature has seen more than 155,000 gamers playing online simultaneously during peak playing hours.

Rated E for Everyone by the ESRB and 3+ by PEGI in Europe, the game has been localized into 18 languages and sold in 37 countries. FIFA 10 hits stores throughout North America on October 20, 2009.
