Blitz: The League II Announced by Midway Games

A few months ago, we had reported that Midway Games had shipped the Blitz: The League the game for the Xbox 360. It’s been a long time since then but no sequel was announced. Now Midway Games has sent word about Blitz: The League II for the next-generation consoles.

Blitz: The League II features an all-new story mode written by Peter Egan, who has earlier worked on ESPN’s Playmakers. The football game not only has precision-aim tackles but also player-controlled touchdown celebrations. It includes an improved on-the-field clash mode as well as online multiplayer capabilities. Blitz: The League II will also feature expanded rosters with all-new personalities.

Mona Hamilton is the VP of marketing at Midway Home Entertainment. She says, “Professional football has long sought to gloss over the often brutal realities that surround the game and its players. Blitz: The League II embraces the most compelling storylines behind America’s favorite sport and allows fans to experience them in a bold, interactive way.”

Blitz: The League II is expected to be out later this year in fall. The football game will be released on the PS3 and the Xbox 360. Lawrence Taylor will be the cover-athlete for Blitz: The League II. The original game had crossed the one million mark when it was released some twenty months ago.
