A few days ago, Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH had announced that Cristiano Ronaldo will be on the cover of PES 2008. Now joining the Manchester United winger on the cover of Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 is Newcastle and England striker Michael Owen.
Michael Owen said, “PES 2008 is a fantastic game, and the only choice for pro players. It enjoys a brilliant reputation within many, many players and manages to be a true simulation of football while also being a real laugh to play. I look ahead to working closely with Konami in the run up to launch, and being a key part of its development.”
Jon Murphy, Pro Evolution Soccer Team Leader, Konami says, “Securing Michael Owen is a real coup for Konami. Since he burst on to the scene, he has proven himself an incredible goal-scorer, netting at all levels, both domestic and international. We are excited to be working together with such a talent on PES 2008.”
PES 2008 is expected to be launched in Autumn 2008 for the PS2, PS3, PSP, Nintendo DS, Xbox 360 and the PC. Michael Owen does have a good track record as he has scored 178 league goals, and 37 for England.
However, injuries have forced him to stay away from football last season. But this year, he is being backed by pundits to take Newcastle to new heights. I think Konami will be hoping that he does the same for PES 2008.
