Gran Turismo 4 on PSP Unlikely in 2008: Kazunori Yamauchi

Fans of the Gran Turismo series are content for now as Gran Turismo 5 Prologue was released last week. But then that game was for the PS3. Lots of GT fans have been eagerly waiting for the PSP version of Gran Turismo 4. Now in an interview with Eurogamer.net, Series creator Kazunori Yamauchi has said that Gran Turismo 4 will not be out this year on the PSP.

PSP Gran Turismo 4

Kazunori Yamauchi explained, “We had been developing the PSP version, but the problem was that the PS3 version took much more time and effort than we had first imagined. So that’s been delayed. I don’t think we’ll be able to make the end of this year for the PSP version, but we are working on it. Once we experienced PS3 online and went through all of that, we came to the conclusion that PSP should not be a standalone product, it should be linked in to the world of Gran Turismo, linked with the PS3.”

Kazunori Yamauchi indicated that the PlayStation Portable version of GT 4 had altered significantly from the time it was announced back in 2004. As he pointed out, gamers can expect online features, which are inspired by the PS3 Gran Turismo games. Gran Turismo 4 for the PSP is worth the wait and let’s hope the title comes out soon.
