So there will not be a PlayStation Phone after all! Reports about a gaming phone had emerged day before yesterday and forums and news sites were all buzzing with excitement. However, it seems that there won’t be any PlayStation Phone as a representative from Sony has come out and dismissed the claim.
It all started when Jim Ryan, who is the co-chief operating officer of Sony Computer Entertainment told a publication here in India that their two brands, PlayStation and Sony Ericsson were proven brands and mentioned that convergence with the two arms working together is ‘definitely plausible’. But a Sony rep quashed the claim by saying, “Jim Ryan was in fact misquoted by the Economic Times of India about this issue. We are not currently working together on the creation of a PlayStation Phone.”
Well, Sony may deny it but there are many indications that a PlayStation Phone could come out in the future as patents about it have been filed. The concept about a gaming phone does seem promising, despite Nokia’s N-Gage debacle, Sony would surely not ignore something like this.
