Gamers who just can’t wait to grab hold of their PS Move controllers and jump into the spell-casting world of Sorcery will find some relief in the fact that they can now download the game on their PS3 systems. But here’s the catch. They won’t be able to play the game until it’s launch date comes along.

Gamasutra has revealed that this title marks the commencement of a new pre-loading feature of the PS Store. Under this system, players will be allowed to purchase games before their official release dates. This will trigger auto-downloads of these titles, which will get stored on PS3 hard drives. Come launch day, gamers will get to cut through the process of waiting for the download to complete, as they will be able to jump into the game right away.
We’ve already seen such a procedure on Steam, which allows PC gamers to pre-download certain titles. But neither of the consoles has come up with something like this until now. Sorcery, which will be the first title to be doled out in this manner, comes out on May 22, 2012. It was first revealed at last year’s E3, as a PS Move enabled game being co-developed by The Workshop and SCE Santa Monica Studio.

The title has gamers stepping into the shoes of Finn who’s a sorcerer’s young apprentice. After unintentionally destroying his master’s alchemy lab, he’s led into the realm of the dead by his master’s magical cat. Here, he must completely wipe out everything he cares about to stop a universe-destroying evil. A developer diary video of the title can be spotted above.
Sorcery is available to be pre-ordered currently via PSN at 39.99 USD (approx. Rs. 3,180). It will also be sold through retail.
