Tess is the newest character from The Last of Us to have been revealed by its maker, Naughty Dog. Annie Wersching, the American actress known mostly for he role in the hit TV series, 24 will be voice-acting and mo-capping for this part. Through a post on the official PlayStation blog, the game’s developer has posted several details about the background and other information of Tess. A video featuring Wersching has been released by the developer as well, showcasing how motion capture is turned into the final output in the game.
Tess is being described as a ‘hardened survivor’ who’s living in one of the last remaining quarantine zones. She makes her living by working in the black market of a city that’s locked under martial law. Along with the game’s protagonist, Joel, she believes in surviving by ‘being willing to do what others can’t or won’t.’ Tess has also been revealed to possess a knack for generating intelligent plans in order to secure the contraband needed for their trade. Although, she shows strong trust and loyalty towards Joel, she secretly questions whether he does the same too.
The Last of Us recently got its release date when a new trailer for it was unveiled at the Spike VGAs. It will be launched exclusively for the PS3 on May 7, 2013. This game is a post-apocalyptic third-person survival action-adventure that has its two protagonists – Joel and Ellie – running and hiding from scavengers, military forces and the infected creatures. While its single-player aspects are the only ones shown till now, it was recently confirmed that the title will also contain a multiplayer component. No details about it have been disclosed by Naughty Dog as yet.
The game is now available for pre-order, and those book their copies beforehand will receive the game’s Sights and Sounds Pack which includes its official soundtrack, a dynamic theme and two avatars. Furthermore, GameStop is offering its own exclusive incentive in the form of the Survival Pack. This includes bonus XP for the game’s multiplayer, extra in-game cash, customizable character items and an MP attack melee booster and more.
