House of the Dead 3 and 4 Headed to PSN

Much to the delight of their fans, both House of the Dead 3 and 4 will be seen arriving exclusively on PSN this year through Sega. While HotD 3 is slated to be launched on February 7, 2012, its successor won’t turn up until the spring of this year. Both the games are set to offer HD visuals and Trophy support, but the main highlight about these remakes is the PS Move compatibility that they will be offering.

HotD 3 was first outed as a light gun arcade game in 2003 and is known to have ushered in a number of new elements into the series. These comprise ‘rescue events’ as well as shot ranking and grading systems that urge gamers to shoot quickly and accurately. Besides there was also the Boss ‘cancel’ bar which was needed to be filled by players in order to repel destructive attacks. The unique-to-console gameplay mechanics of the PSN version of this title will enable players to enjoy it using either a PS Move controller or a standard PlayStation controller.

“The House of the Dead has always been one of SEGA’s most popular series, and over the years we have worked hard to bring that full arcade experience to console owners. The abilities of the PlayStation 3, as well as PlayStation Move, have let us get closer than ever before. The only thing these titles are missing is a need for quarters,” shared, Haruki Satomi, Senior Vice President of Digital Business at SEGA of America.

HotD 4, which was first launched in 2005, features a run-and-gun-down-creatures gameplay and introduced the concept of hidden ‘treasure rooms’ to the series. These rooms were filled with score-boosting items and interactive sequences that compelled gamers to push away their enemies.
