PSN Restoration Commenced across US

After weeks of turmoil, Sony is now trying to re-establish its position in the gaming domain. Last month, the company announced that it has been toiling hard to restore affected services. According to a post on the official US PlayStation blog, the first phase to reinstate some PSN and Qriocity services has been kicked off in the US.

Sony Corporation’s Executive Deputy President, Kazuo Hirai, addressed PS3 gamers earlier in the day, detailing the extent and measure of this restoration. The first step in this phase entails the newly released firmware update for the PS3 which necessitates players to change their account password.

This phase is said to re-initiate some services including access to PSN and Qriocity along with online multiplayer gameplay for PS3 and PSP. Gamers can also lay hands on Music Unlimited services and third-party services like Hulu, Vudu and Netflix. With this introduction, the online chat functionality comes ashore as well.

The PSN and Qriocity restoration phase is being rolled out across the US followed by other parts of the world. Other services such as PlayStation Store are expected to be commence soon. However, no official date has been unveiled for the same. For now, PS3 and PSP gamers can log into their PSN accounts and immerse in what they’ve missed for all these weeks.
