Touted to be a blend of survival and action elements, The Last of Us was announced recently for the PS3 by Sony. Uncharted maker Naughty Dog is currently developing this title, which supposedly involves a character driven story about a large number of people devastated by a modern plague.
Unveiled for the first time at the Spike TV 2011 Video Game Awards event on Saturday, this PS3 exclusive transpires in deserted cities that are being reclaimed by nature. The characters that feature in the trailer are Joel, who is described as a ruthless survivor and Ellie, a brave young teenage girl. More about the story was disclosed by Sony, by revealing that the remaining survivors in this game are even driven to the extent of killing each other for food, weapons and other things.
“We are excited to finally unveil The Last of Us, a project the team has been working hard on for some time. Naughty Dog’s mission is to change the way people experience videogames. We are confident The Last of Us will take a leap forward in cinematic gaming and storytelling, providing gamers with an experience unlike anything else in the industry,” shared, Evan Wells, Co-President of Naughty Dog.
Key people from Nuaghty Dog are said to be currently working on this new game. These include game director Bruce Straley and creative director Neil Druckmann, both of whom have been a part of big titles coming from the developer’s stable. Many successful series’ include the likes of Jak and Daxter, Crash Bandicoot and Uncharted of course have been created by Naughty Dog.
The Last of Us is yet to get a definite release date, but gamers will be kept posted by us with all the latest details regarding this game.
