Hailed by Sony to have smashed its sales expectations, Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception managed to sell 3.8 million copies worldwide upon its release day. This PS3 exclusive has been announced to be the biggest selling title in the Uncharted trilogy.
Uncharted 3 released to wide acclaim on November 1, 2011. This third installment in the popular franchise involves protagonist Nathan Drake and his mentor Sully venturing on a journey around the world to unearth the secrets of a mysterious lost city named Iram of the Pillars. On their quest, they are met with unexpected and thrilling situations that complement the series’ cinematic theme.
“Uncharted 3 is a blockbuster and these incredible sales figures reflect that,” shared, Nick Caplin Head of Communications at Sony Computer Entertainment Europe. “Consumers are clearly as eager to play the game as critics were to heap praise upon it, and the team at Naughty Dog deserve this fantastic reception at retail. The Uncharted series, exclusive to PS3, has redefined the third-person adventure genre and is now one of the leading franchises available.”
The game also holds a multiplayer mode for which map packs as well as multiplayer skin packs are slated to be released in the future. A Fortune Hunters’ Club program launched by Naughty Dog, tenders gamers with discounts on the first four multiplayer map packs and first three multiplayer skin packs which will be released for this title.
Having already garnered sales figures of 3.8 million copies, Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception has now joined the list of best-selling titles in 2011. It can be picked up for the PS3 at a price of 59.99 USD (approx. Rs. 2.956).
