PS3 Mass Effect 2 Goes Gold, Equipped with ME3 engine

Earlier this month, EA revealed that Mass Effect 2 has been scheduled to arrive on the PS3 in January 2011. According to a post on the Bioware blog, the PS3 version of the title has gone gold. The blog also manifests a podcast which records a conversation with the producer of this version namely Jesse Houston. This discussion highlights that the game will be powered by the Mass Effect 3 engine to deliver a boosting performance.

Thanks to the advanced engine, this version of the title will display enhanced graphics for rendering an impactful debut of the series on the PS3. This game compiles not only the original narrative but also add-ons which were released in due course after the release of its Xbox 360 counterpart.

The podcast dialogue has emphasized that the in-game controls have been tweaked to suit the PS3 controller. However, those who have already indulged in the Xbox 360 version of the game and prefer the original settings can opt for the same layout as per their convenience. Besides, the upcoming iteration will flaunt improved planet scanning abilities. In addition, all the patches have been incorporated into the title to unfurl a seamless experience.

Mass Effect 2 will be unleashed for the PlayStation 3 on January 18, 2010 in North America while players across Europe can grab it from January 21, 2010 onwards. So, until the title paves its way to the console, gamers can experience its demo which will hit the PSN on December 21, 2010 in North America and a day later in Europe.
