No PS3 Price Cuts in March 2009: Sony

Last week, Reggie Fils-Aime from Nintendo had revealed that Nintendo Wii is nowhere near a price cut. With the holiday season coming soon, many were expecting price cuts from Sony also. Yesterday, there were speculations that Sony would soon cut the price of the PS3 but reports pointed that it would happen in March 2009.

No PS3 Price Cuts

However, it seems that the Sony PS3 price cuts would not happen soon as they have denied it. A representative from Sony Computer Entertainment America told Edge that they don’t have any plans to cut the prices of the PS3 in March 2009. This is what the SCEA representative told:

“There are no plans for a price reduction on PS3 in March 09, and anything reported on or discussed otherwise is purely rumor or speculation.”

Sony has previously cut the price of the PS3 and they got good results. Presently in the US, the Xbox 360 by Microsoft starts at $199 (approx. Rs. 9890) while the Wii costs $249 (approx. Rs. 12, 370). As for the PS3, the 80GB version costs $399 (approx. Rs. 19, 820).
