PSN is Perfect Learning Opportunity For Young Developers: Sony’s Shuhei Yoshida

Online platforms for games like the Xbox Live Arcade (XBLA) for the Microsoft Xbox 360, WiiWare for the Nintendo Wii and the PlayStation Network (PSN) for the Sony PS3 have seen lots of independent games. Now Shuhei Yoshida from Sony has mentioned that the PSN could turn out be a perfect learning opportunity for independent minded and young developers.

Shuhei Yoshida is the president of Sony’s Worldwide Studios. He spoke to Kotaku at E3 2008 in Los Angeles and told about the PlayStation Network. Yoshida explained, “The network is a perfect learning opportunity for the young developers as well as very entrepreneurial, independent minded creators to try out new concepts and release it globally… and get the reaction from consumers.”

Yoshida pointed out that the huge learning opportunity means that the industry as well as the young developers will be able to try new concepts. He feels that the game creators will not only be able to show what they can do but also try out new ideas that could bring in a larger development.
