Even before the game was released, it was a known fact Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots was going to break a lot of records. In Japan too, there is a lot of craze for the tactical action game. Now Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu is reporting that Metal Gears Solid 4 has sold nearly half a million copies in the first four days.
According to Famitsu, nearly 476,334 copies on the latest iteration of the Metal Gear Solid series have been sold in Japan. And as expected MGS 4 is turning out be a system seller. In Japan, normally 10, 000 PlayStation 3 consoles are sold every week. But when MGS 4 was released, some 77,208 PS3 units were sold in the land of the rising sun.
The installed based of the PlayStation 3 in Japan is some 2 million consoles. If you go by these figures, then it means that one out of four PS3 owners in Japan picked up Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. The stealth action has done well in other regions of the world also.
