LittleBigPlanet Release Delayed by Sony

It would be an understatement if it was said that LittleBigPlanet was one of the eagerly awaited titles of this year. Hundreds of thousands of PS3 gamers have been waiting to play the LBP. Now it has emerged that Sony has delayed the release of LittleBigPlanet worldwide due to the references to the Quran in the in-game soundtrack.

Patrick Seybold is the director of corporate communications and social media at Sony. On the official PlayStation Blog, Seybold posted:

“During the review process prior to the release of LittleBigPlanet, it has been brought to our attention that one of the background music tracks licensed from a record label for use in the game contains two expressions that can be found in the Qur’an. We have taken immediate action to rectify this and we sincerely apologize for any offense that this may have caused.”

LittleBigPlanet for the PS3 was expected to release on October 21, 2008. But now Sony has said that they will begin shipping the game to North American retailers on October 27, 2008. The platformer was supposed to release in the UK on October 24, 2008 but there too LittleBigPlanet has been delayed.
