Confirmed? BioShock 2 on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Wii

We have been waiting, for the city of Rapture to emerge from its depths in 2009. Adam, Eve, Fontaine, Andrew Ryan, Splicers, Plasmids, the list will keep on increasing once its sequel hits the Xbox 360, Playstaion 3 and Wii. Unbelievable here’s the proof that you need. Last week’s reports are being solidified and our fears and tears of joy are just beginning to emerge. A job posting from Gamasutra which corroborates the news we published last week about the world of Rapture coming out on the Playstation 3. The Job position is for an FX-animator and his job details include –

“We’re looking for a sorcerer to wield elemental powers: explode with fire, rain down from the heavens, spew blood and ooze toxic vapors. As an FX Artist on Bioshock 2, you will be responsible for creating a kaleidoscopic collage of FX that will add texture, vitality and spark to the dystopia of our game world. You will collaborate with animators, environment artists, designers and programmers to bring about a complex symphony of the subtle and the sublime. You will pre-visualize FX, draw textures, animate and implement systems inside the Unreal Editor and other proprietary tools. And, yes, you will get to blow stuff up.”

Sorcerer, elemental powers, that’s quite a storm these guys are brewing up here with the Unreal engine, If the recent Scans from GOW2 are anything to go by, the updated engine is just going to freak the living daylights in recreating the surreal world that gave shivers down spines and questioned the engine of human morality. The platforms have been explicitly listed this time around so this news should not keep you guessing too much.-

Job Responsibilities:

* Create compelling character and environmental FX utilizing the Unreal Engine
* Pre-visualize effects using 3ds Max and/or other packages
* Develop a texture library for FX using Photoshop
* Script the attachment of FX to characters, environments, encounters and cinematics
* Optimize FX to improve performance
* Work with closely with programmers to develop and implement FX technology
* Work with Art Director, Art Leads and the Audio team to ensure aesthetic unity with the entire project
* Work with Designers to mesh gameplay goals with aesthetic style

If we were to ignore the PS3 and Xbox 360 platforms we are left with the Wii. Mark Rein’s reports of the Unreal engine working on the Wii are actually coming onto the fore now. Charging up the electrobolt and stunning your enemies is never going to be the same again.
