PS3 Goes Past A Million Mark in UK

PlayStation 3 Sony loves to sell its wares in the United Kingdom. When they released the PlayStation 3 over there, it was done with much fanfare and gamers even got free LCD televisions on the launch day! The dividends seem to have paid off as the PS3 is finally reaping great rewards for the electronics giant.

Game news website GamesIndustry.biz is reporting that Sony has confirmed that they sold more than a million units of the PS3 in the UK. Sony always had it good in the UK as they had sold more than 165,000 units of the PS3 just after it was launched. They even topped the record of the PS2, which required some 50 weeks to reach the one million mark. The PS3 has achieved this target in some 47 weeks in the UK.

This was better than the Xbox 360, which chugged its way to the million milestone in 60 weeks. In fact, a few weeks ago, David Reeves had said that the PAL PS3 is expected to beat the Xbox 360 by the summer of this year. However, the Nintendo Wii had taken just 38 weeks to reach the one million mark in the UK.
