There are lots of sources on the internet that have pointed out that Microsoft apparently would soon be slashing the price of its next generation gaming console, the Xbox 360. Well, boards all over web were abuzz with rumors that Sony too could cut the prices of its next-gen console, the PlayStation 3.
However, it seems that there will not be a PS3 price soon. Nobuyuki Oneda is the chief financial officer at Sony. At the Nomura Asia Equity forum in Singapore, Oneda explained, “Our plan is not to reduce the price. Our strategy is not to sell more quantity for PS3 but to concentrate on profitability.”
Microsoft is expected to cut the price of the Xbox 360 Pro by fifty dollars. Though it will still be expensive than the Nintendo Wii, Microsoft’s next generation console will be cheaper than Sony’s 40GB PS3 by some hundred dollars.
