PC version of Rollercoaster Tycoon 4 to be ‘completely different’ to mobile version

Early last week, we saw the announcement of Rollercoaster Tycoon 4 Mobile which as its name suggests is meant for smartphones and tablets. But soon after that, there was backlash from hardened fans of the series who resented the fact that the PC platform has completely been ignored by the makers of this game. Soon after that, news came that a PC experience is also in development for release later this year.

And now, granting some much needed clarity on the whole matter Atari has spoken out about this. The company has proclaimed the PC version to be a completely different game as compared to its mobile edition. This means fans can expect different features than the ones that have been showcased in the trailer we’ve posted below. And more importantly, they can hope that the free-to-play mechanics laced with micro-transactions don’t make their way into the PC version in anyway.

Speaking to Digital Spy, Atari’s senior director of marketing, Anthony Chien assured that the company is trying to deliver as much as it can with Rollercoaster Tycoon 4. Despite the series’ roots having been set in the 1990s PC gaming movement, this new entry will be making its way onto mobile platforms first. Chien has said that Atari is moving forward with a ‘mobile first’ strategy, and hence PC gamers will need to wait before the ‘completely different’ version is ready for consumption.

While the mobile edition is slated to come out during this spring, Rollercoaster Tycoon 4 for PC will be released some time later this year.
