Assassin’s Creed III to have Native American Setting?

Well, the speculations surrounding Assassin’s Creed III certainly have no plans of stopping anytime soon, but the latest piece of rumor seems to be confirming the hearsay that the game will feature a Native American setting. Scheduled to release on October 30 this year, the title sure has been grabbing quite some attention ever since Ubisoft’s Yves Guillemot confirmed its existence in November last year.

Assassin’s Creed III Poster

Yesterday, Kotaku set the ball rolling by revealing what appears to be a photograph of the poster for the game. The website claims to have received the image from a Best Buy staff member who captured it from the company’s employee news section. Now this completely makes sense if a post on the official Assassin’s Creed Facebook page is to be believed. According to the post, a ‘major’ announcement regarding the series is just ‘days away.’

The original Continental flag is the main clue for the rumor of this game being set in the Native American era. Moreover, the character on the poster is seen wearing an 18th-century military jacket which points to that period. And then there’s the weapons and jewellery that confirm the Native American presence in this supposed advertisement of the game. But then again, there are slight chances that after so much speculation, it might just turn out to be a fan-made piece of art.

Whatever it is, the entire mystery behind Assassin’s Creed III will only be uncovered when Ubisoft decides to do so. The upcoming announcement is expected to shed some light on this title and we’re eagerly awaiting it.

Update: We have official pack shots of the game coming in from Ubisoft, which go on to confirm the news that AC III will indeed feature a Native American setting. Word from the company is that it will be revealing ‘all details’ regarding the game on March 5, 2012. We’ll keep gamers posted with further information.
