Starfield Delayed Again, Coming This September

Starfield

Starfield, the ambitious space-based RPG from Bethesda, will now be released on September 6 this year, missing the studio’s earlier promise of launching it in the first half of 2023. Ahead of that, the makers are all set to host a Starfield direct event, which will take place on June 11.

Starfield was first announced by Bethesda at E3 2018 with a short teaser explaining its main premise. We got a detailed look at it in E3 2021 and that’s when it was also announced that the game is slated for a November 11 release in 2022.

In May of 2022, Starfield’s launch got delayed to the first half of 2023, citing additional development time and support from engineers. And as fans were awaiting more information on this, Bethesda has given a final (hopefully?) confirmation on September 6 being the actual release date.

In a video message featuring some new Starfield footage, game director Todd Howard said, “This June, we’re going to bring you into the studio and give you a deep dive in the game at our Starfield direct. There’s so much that we still have to show you.”

When Starfield was first announced, it was revealed to be a multi-platform offering. Following that though, Microsoft acquired Bethesda-owner ZeniMax Media in an astounding $7.5 billion deal.

Since then, it’s become clear that Starfield will only be launched on the Xbox Series X/S consoles and PC. Owners of the PS5 have little hope to get to play this action RPG.

The game is set in an area 50 light-years away from our Solar System, called The Settled Systems. Starfield’s story chronicles a conflict between two factions that have settled into an uneasy peace.

As we said, Starfield is coming out on September 6. Pre-orders for the game are still to open up.
