Starfield Officially Bethesda’s Biggest Game Launch Of All Time

Starfield

Starfield has officially surpassed the 6 million players milestone, making it Bethesda’s biggest launch of all time. That’s a massive achievement considering the studio is also responsible for gamers from the Fallout and The Elder Scrolls series.

The space RPG has received mostly positive reviews from critics, while the response from gamers has evidently been a warm one. In fact, only 1 day after its launch, Starfield had managed to exceed 1 million concurrent players across all platforms.

The game’s 6 million players milestone is way ahead of Bethesda’s other biggies. 2011’s The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim managed to sell 3.4 million physical units across Xbox 360, PS3, and PC two days after its launch. And by the end of the year, it had breached the 10 million mark.

On the other hand, Fallout 4 had sold 1.2 million copies on Steam within 24 hours of its release to break the record that was earlier set by GTA 5.

It’s worth noting that, unlike both these games, Starfield isn’t available on PlayStation consoles. Microsoft’s purchase of Bethesda’s parent ZeniMax Media means the possibility of the studio’s games coming to Sony’s consoles looks bleak.

Starfield is available to play on PC and Xbox Series X/S. Game Pass owners on both platforms can download it now for free. The game relies on Bethesda’s familiar action RPG template that’s taken into space this time around.

It takes place within the Milky Way galaxy and contains both fictional and non-fictional planetary systems, allowing players to land on more than 1000 planets and an unspecified number of moons and space stations.

Starfield is set in the year 2310 and its story involves the conflict between the two largest space factions, called United Colonies and Freestar Collective. The player assumes the role of a customizable character who is a member of Constellation, an organization of space explorers.
