Wasteland 2 aiming for an August 2014 launch

Wasteland 2 which is currently in beta mode, will be hitting complete availability status in August this year, as has been announced by its maker inXile Entertainment. One of the most successful Kickstarter projects of all time, this forthcoming game acts as a sequel to the critically acclaimed Wasteland which had come out way back in 1988.

Wasteland 2

The much anticipated post-apocalyptic turn-based RPG was earlier supposed to be released in October 2013, but its developers saw more scope in it which led to a delay. It has utilized this time to infuse Wasteland 2 with additional features, areas, reactivity, words and a lot of other elements. This was made possible by the overwhelming response it received on Kickstarter. The makers had asked for a modest amount of 900,000 USD in order to complete the project, but people contributed in droves, thus pledging a massive amount of 2,933,252 USD towards its development.

It is being created by Brian Fargo and Chris Avellone, whereas its music is being handled the legendary Mark Morgan. Wasteland 2 will retain the semi-overhead perspective of its predecessor, but will feature a rotatable camera as well. It will debut as a turn-based and party-based role-playing game which will contain tactical combat. Under development using the Unity engine, it will ship for PC, Mac as well as Linux systems.

Although it has been announced to have been marked for an August launch, there’s no concrete release date out as yet. Eager fans can now access its beta through the Steam Early Access program.
