Bastion Sells 500,000 Copies

According to a post on the title’s official blog, the sales of Supergiant Games’ Bastion have managed to surpass the half million mark by officially trading off 500,000 copies. It is apparently the holiday season sales on Xbox Live and Steam that helped this game achieve the milestone last week.

Bastion 1

Released in July 2011 as a downloadable Xbox Live title, this offering quickly grabbed everyone’s attention with its anime-inspired visuals and dynamic narrative style. Events in this title chiefly revolve around a disastrous incident called the Calamity which has virtually ruptured the city of Caelondia. A large part of the city has been broken into pieces and this has ultimately disrupted its ecology, turning most of its people into delicate statues. Gamers take control of The Kid who has awakened in the destroyed city and is faced with the task of coming to terms with what has transpired.

Greg Kasavin, Writer and Designer, Supergiant Games, mentioned on the blog, “What’s more, we’re honored to see Bastion getting plenty of attention in various Game of the Year awards lists across all kinds of different publications including some big old mainstream ones. We wanted to make a memorable game so it’s great to see this level of recognition.

This title was launched for PC through Steam in August 2011. Furthermore, it also made its way to the Google Chrome Web Store recently, where a prologue version can be played for free by Chrome users. A complete version of it too can also be downloaded from the service at a price of 14.99 USD (approx. Rs. 795). This game was recently featured on our list of the best console games of 2011.
