“The wait has been worth it. It is time for an RPG to go beyond fantasy and space,” Sean Ratcliffe, Vice President of Marketing for SEGA of America said. “The genre needs a shot in the arm, and renowned developer Obsidian has delivered. Alpha Protocol will be the absolute best it can be and we look forward to revealing fresh aspects of it to the community in the upcoming months.”

The game adds a new level of modern day realism to conventional RPGs. Players have to uncover the masterminds behind a tragic missile attack on a passenger jetliner, in a story of an international arms-dealing conspiracy. Players can influence the outcome of the game as they decide who to befriend, trust and kill.

Alpha Protocol casts players as rookie spy Michael Thorton as customizable character skill-sets, attributes and weapons play a major role in steering Thorton to suit players’ styles. Those who pre-order the game from Gamestop will get the Exclusive Assault Pack which contains exclusive weapons and ammo such as the UC Regulator high damage shotgun and Rittergroupen Grizzly high accuracy rifle.

Alpha Protocol is scheduled to release on June 1, 2010 in North America for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. Prices for the game are now known.
