Mass Effect 2 in Development by BioWare

Video game developer BioWare, a division of EA has announced that they will be developing Mass Effect 2. The game is a much awaited sequel to Mass Effect and is the second piece of the Mass Effect trilogy. Mass Effect, released in 2007, won many awards and BioWare strives to keep the series’ good fortune going.

“We’re going to surpass the extraordinary gaming experience we brought our fans in Mass Effect by delivering intensified combat and expanded weapon options as well as increased depth of planet exploration, all while delivering a powerful, emotionally engaging story,” Dr. Ray Muzyka, General Manager and CEO at BioWare and General Manager and VP at EA, emphasized. “Mass Effect 2 is shaping up to be an unforgettable RPG-shooter experience, taking players on a non-stop roller-coaster ride filled with stunning plot twists and no-holds-barred action.”

The Mass Effect trilogy is a sci-fi adventure RPG series with a vast universe in the background teeming with deadly alien life and treacherous unexplored planets. In Mass Effect 2, the second installment, Saren’s hellish army of Geth troops has just about been defeated and the humans now face an even deadlier threat.

The game is still in early phases of development, so pricings are some time away, but we do know that Mass Effect 2 will be releasing for the PC and Xbox 360 early in 2010. There is no news of the game for other platforms yet.
