echoshift soon to unveil onto the PSP

There are a lot of games that fall under the mind-boggling puzzle genre but it seems that the PSP would shortly receive a new one that will take the genre to another level. According to the official PlayStation blog, a brand new game entitled echoshift will soon release for the Sony PSP. This offering is set to put an interesting twist on the common puzzle genre familiar to gamers. The game lets them play with their past actions as each level includes different obstacles and puzzles which must be solved in order to pass through the exit door.

An echo of the player’s past is created as they traverse through each level. The game records all their actions as they race against the clock to complete each level. If players cannot make it through the level within the given time, they would have to replay the same level again but alongside their echo. This time around, players can use this echo to their advantage in clearing obstacles as it will repeat the actions players took earlier. They must work with their echoes to clear obstacles like platforms and gaps that were not possible to do the first time around.

The levels are packed with loads of different puzzling events that require multiple echoes to reach the exit. Players have to strategically employ these echoes to help attain the ultimate goal of each level. There are more than 30 different puzzle types to indulge in strewn around the eight themed worlds. Each world includes seven levels packed with puzzle types like doors controlled by switches, moving objects and crumbling floors among others.

Each level features three game modes namely ‘cast’, ‘key’, and ‘illusion’. As the game begins, players can only access the cast mode and expect the other two to unfurl as each mode is cleared. In Key mode, players have to find the hidden key in order to open the door at the end of each stage. They may have to even work together with the echo to find the key. The illusion mode enables gamers to briefly stop time so that the echoes are frozen in one place while players can still advance.

For all those puzzling gamers who master the 56 levels in game, the company reveals that they can look forward to more levels set to come their way. They can espy additional downloadable levels which will invade the PSN shortly. A free demo of echoshift is set to unveil this month itself in the PSN.
