Microsoft to Soon Unleash Games for Windows Marketplace

The extensive landscape of networks for consoles has boosted their ground in the gaming terrain. These services have not only expanded the horizons of their respective systems but also enriched gaming experience. To render such experiences to PC players, Microsoft has unveiled the Games for Windows Marketplace which amalgamates web expediency with Games on Demand online distribution.

Encompassing a wide range of services for PC gamers, this new Marketplace will not only boast of numerous titles but also extend frequent specials such as Deal of the Week. This service has been designed to offer anywhere, anytime online access for downloading titles at a swift pace. According to the company, the system will enable players to redownload titles, purchased previously by them.

“With Games for Windows Marketplace, we set out to create a digital store built for PC gamers end-to-end,” explained Kevin Unangst, Senior Global Director, PC and Mobile Gaming, at Microsoft. “And by integrating with our existing Xbox LIVE and Windows Live services, we’ve made it easier than ever for millions of gamers to see for themselves how easy buying PC games can be.”

Like its Xbox 360 counterpart, the Games for Windows Marketplace will make it simple for players to procure titles through recurring and seasonal offers. In addition, searching for games gets easy as the service has been embedded with an appropriate functionality. Furthermore, the website is expected to don a fresh and intuitive look for boosting gamers’ experience as they navigate through different options.

“We plan to deliver some of our biggest and best PC franchises on Games for Windows Marketplace from day one. Digital distribution continues to drive growth in PC gaming, and we’re excited to partner with Microsoft and bring amazing games to this growing marketplace,” remarked Christian Svensson, Corporate Officer and Vice President of Strategic Planning and Business Development at Capcom.

This new Microsoft innovation will come ashore with an expansive portfolio of over 100 games including Fable: The Lost Chapters, Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto III and Lego Universe from Warner Bros. It will also facilitate players to download Capcom’s Dead Rising 2 as well as Lost Planet 2 along with Max Payne by Rockstar Games and Square Enix’s Deus Ex: Game of the Year Edition. Besides, Microsoft’s personal franchises including Flight Simulator, Gears of War, Halo and Zoo Tycoon too will be available through the Games for Windows Marketplace.

Following the launch of this Marketplace, gamers can get started to explore an all-new world as they will only require a Windows Live ID. Players with Windows Live, Xbox Live, Games for Windows – Live or Zune accounst can log into the website to download numerous titles. The service will not only allow credit card purchasing but is expected to support Microsoft Points as well.

The Games for Windows Marketplace has been slated to advent on the gaming scene starting November 15, 2010.
