Mass Effect 2 PC Specs and DRM Information Revealed

Mass Effect 2 is the upcoming action video game from Electronic Arts, and now developer BioWare has revealed the system specifications and DRM information for the PC version of Mass Effect 2 via its official forum. This is so that fans can check whether PC will run the game before pre-ordering it.

Good news for those who dislike DRM; the boxed or retail PC version of the game only implements a “basic disk check” and “will not require online authentication”, while digital versions “will use the retailers protection system”.

The minimum PC requirements for Mass Effect 2 which must be met are Windows XP SP3 or Windows Vista SP1 or Windows 7, 1.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo or equivalent AMD processor, 1 GB RAM for Windows XP or 2 GB RAM for Windows Vista and Windows 7, 15 GB of HDD space, a DirectX 9.0c compatible sound card, a 256 MB video card (with Pixel Shader 3.0 support). It should be noted that Nvidia GeForce 7300, 8100, 8200, 8300, 8400, and 9300, as well as ATI Radeon HD3200, and HD4350 are below minimum requirement, and updates to video and sound card drivers may be required.

The recommended systems requirements are Windows XP SP3 or Windows Vista SP1 or Windows 7, 2 GB RAM, a 2.6+ GHz Cure 2 Duo Intel processor or an equivalent AMD CPU, and an ATI Radeon HD 2900 XT or an NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT graphics card, or better. It should also be noted that Intel and S3 video cards are not officially supported in Mass Effect 2.
