Spore, the evolution game, from EA has been very well received despite the small set-back due to the game’s DRM. Even versions for the Wii and the Nintendo DS have been announced by EA. An expansion pack for Spore, titled Spore Galactic Adventures had been announced earlier, and now the Electronic Arts studio, Maxis reveals that the Robot Chicken writers have created some ‘Adventures’ for Spore Galactic Adventures.
“Gamers and Adult Swim fans alike are going to absolutely love the hilarity found in the Robot Chicken missions created for Spore Galactic Adventures,” said Kip Katsarelis, who is lead producer of Spore Galactic Adventures. “Our development team had a blast working with the guys and couldn’t stop laughing the entire time we were together. Their Adventures truly reflect the extent of their wild imaginations as well as how the in-game Adventure Creator tool can create almost any type of story imaginable. Players can only guess the level of absurdity and fun that are in these Adventures.”
The campaign was the brainchild of the Robot Chicken co-creators Seth Green and Matt Senreich, while the project was undertaken by the writing team that included Matt Beans, Mike Fasolo, Doug Goldstein, Breckin Meyer, Tom Root, Dan Milano, Hugh Sterbakov, Kevin Shinick, and Zeb Wells. “We’re big fans of Spore, so teaming up on Spore Galactic Adventures was a natural fit and so much fun for all the guys at Robot Chicken,” enthused Seth Green, co-creator of Robot Chicken.
“We’re all gaming geeks, so when the Spore guys said they had an alluring proposition for us, how could we say no?” co-creator Matt Senreich added. “Instead of creating absurd worlds with toys, this gave us the opportunity to create literally anything we wanted as gamers. Geek moment. We think that RC fans will love the pretty random and absurd adventures we created and we can’t wait to goof around with the ones the fans create.”
The Spore Galactic Adventures expansion pack adds a whole lot of variety to the Spore franchise. Players can be beamed to planets and turn creatures into space captains, battling monsters in arenas all over the galaxy. Each mission gives experience to the captains and various items and accessories can be earned.
Adventures created by the Robot Chicken writers will be made available as free downloadable content when the Spore Galactic Adventures expansion releases on June 23, 2009.
