Lineage II Gamer Beats Rival to Death in Russia

Lineage II Though video games have been blamed for violence, this time around it was a tiff between rival guilds in a massively multiplayer online game that has lead to a gruesome death. According to a report from Russia Today, a real-life altercation between two rival Lineage II guilds has led to the death of a man in Moscow.

It all started when the victim’s guild had exterminated the rival’s character in Lineage II. The guilds decided to settle it out in real life. The brawl that followed saw the victim, Albert, being beaten up so bad that he died from his injuries on the way to hospital. Albina, who is Albert’s sister said, “I think they have confused the game and reality. And after we buried him on December 31, they continued to threaten us.”

What’s more shocking is that the 22-year-old student did not show any signs of regret. Instead he calmly explained the reasons why he had murdered Albert. There have been many violent incidents related to video games in Russia lately. In one case, a Ukrainian man beat up a Russian, who was his rival. In one more shocking incident, there was a Russian gamer who murdered his grandma after she disrupted his game calling him to have his dinner.
