Warmonger, Operation: Downtown Destruction to be Launched in October 2007 by NetDevil

Earlier this year, we had posted about a new action game. Now NetDevil has sent word that their apocalyptic, first-person shooter, Warmonger, Operation: Downtown Destruction will be out on October 16, 2007. The game is powered by the AGEIA PhysX processor.

Warmonger, Operation: Downtown Destruction has an exceptional piece-by-piece destruction system. The game is designed to offer dazzling fluid and cloth-based effects. In the game, destruction can also be used as a tactical tool or a weapon as it is enabled procedurally, rather than with usual pre-canned animations that are found in most games today. For instance, a sniper can demolish the stairs behind him to obstruct access, but a rocket blast to the floor underneath him can also hasten his own ill-timed end.

Chris Sherland is the lead producer of Warmonger. He explains, “Warmonger offers a unique environment for fans of FPS games, where no place is safe, and looking for good cover is a challenge rather than a given. Test sessions leave a player with a strong emotional reaction to this… it’s downright scary to play!”

Scott Brown, President, NetDevil says, “First person shooter environments have remained mostly static for years. AGEIA PhysX has changed all that, and changed it profoundly. New rigid body technology and procedural destruction of game environments set the stage for dynamic content creation that will literally transform the way people think and play.”

Manju Hegde, CEO, AGEIA comments, “We are happy to see what a forward thinking game developer can accomplish with our card. By incorporating PhysX, NetDevil brought to life some of the most gripping game experiences ever seen in a game. Warmonger’s real-world, real-time properties offer gamers a whole new dimension in gameplay they can enjoy over and over again. They will have a blast discovering new terrains, sniper positions, and other game elements they have never had a chance to try out before.”

Warmonger, Operation: Downtown Destruction will release for the PC. Gamers can either download it or get it from leading edge hardware makers selling PhysX-based cards and gaming PCs. Warmonger seems to be an interesting shooter and PC gamers will be happy to get a game like that. Anyways, it would be great if Warmonger comes on the consoles also!
