In July we had reported about the Steam Community beta launch that was slated to take place in late July. Well, Steam’s creator Valve has finally announced the final launch of the Steam Community.
The Steam Community is Valve’s latest service update for its PC game download service that creates a social network of users with friends. Besides, this service also creates logs of one’s favorite and most played games as well as customized groups for players to join.
The Steam Community service’s open beta was launched in August this year. The open beta provided gamers with the ability to create a Steam ID and personal profile complete with avatars and favorites. It also provided gamers with a friends list that shows who among added peers are online and available to chat and game with.
The final version of Valve’s Steam Community also integrates instant messaging, text and voice chat features as well as an event scheduler to coordinate and view upcoming multiplayer matches.
The Steam Community features are accessible within the client itself or form within any game in Steam’s vast library of games.
Certain features such as the users’ Control Panel, Friends List and Group pages may be accessed and managed using any Web browser.
