Online computer games developer and publisher, NCsoft Corporation has acquired Orange County, a California-based Carbine Studios, which has tradition-rich pedigree with ties to successful World of Warcraft, Starcraft and Fallout games.
Robert Garriott is the chief executive officer for NCsoft’s North American business. He says, “This is a dev team made in heaven. This group is as experienced as they come in the area of computer role playing and multiplayer game design. Making successful games is second nature to them. They are a very welcome addition to the NCsoft family. The gaming community should be eager to see what great things come out of Carbine Studios in the coming years.”
Kevin Beardslee, co-founder, Carbine says, “NCSoft’s established global infrastructure, commitment to their development studios and passion for online gaming makes them an ideal partner. In the coming months Carbine Studios will continue to grow and we look forward to bringing many more talented industry professionals into our fold.”
As of now, Carbine Studios is working on an unannounced project, which is supposed to be very innovative and promising. Carbine Studios is comprised of 17 former Blizzard employees. NCsoft will surely benefit from the deal and they will be strengthening their presence in the big league of online gaming.
