Johnny Depp will be reprising his Pirates of the Caribbean film role of Captain Jack Sparrow in 7 Studios’ upcoming action/adventure game Pirates of the Caribbean: The Legend of Jack Sparrow. Bethesda Softworks confirmed today that Depp will voice the character. Depp had acted in 2004’s Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl (for which Depp was given a Oscar nomination in the Best Actor category) and as well as the upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest.
Todd Vaughn, executive producer of the game said, “We are thrilled to have Johnny Depp working on this project. We couldn’t imagine a better way to capture the spirit of the character than to have Depp lend his voice to Captain Jack Sparrow. It truly adds to an already rich gameplay experience.”
Gamers can play both Sparrow and Will Turner (played by Orlando Bloom in the films) as they discover surroundings based on the movie. Action will happen both on land and sea, with players swaggering through levels and learning new moves and attacks along the way.
