Unreal Engine 3 to be Used for Next-Gen Games by Electronic Arts (EA)

Electronic Arts announced that it has signed a contract with Epic Games that will see several next generation games from EA prepared with Unreal Engine 3. Epic’s much admired engine will be used alongside EA’s own internal development tools. It seems that the announcement applies to games for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

EA to use Unreal Engine 3

Paul Lee, president of EA studios remarked, “At EA, we give our development teams the tools they need to make great games. We license cutting edge tools like the Unreal Engine 3 and combine them with our own systems to create state-of-the art development technology.”

Mark Rein, Vice President, Epic Games, Inc said, “We’re obviously thrilled to license Unreal Engine 3 to EA, the world leader in our industry. They have extremely talented development teams, and we’re excited to see how they apply our technology to their high profile game projects.”

The Unreal Engine has been devised to ease content creation and programming, with the aim of putting as much power as possible in the hands of artists with negligible programmer assistance. This will indeed make EA’s games more powerful than before with more realistic graphics and nice gameplay.
