Codemasters to Utilize Exit Games’ Photon Network Engine for Upcoming Online Titles

Exit Games announced recently that it has signed a multi-title deal with Codemasters which entitles the latter to employ Exit’s Photon network engine for upcoming online games including F1 Online The Game. Other titles that would be developed using this technology are yet to be announced.

Codemasters has cited reasons like ‘proven, rock-solid and scalable technology’ and ‘competitive pricing’ as being the driving forces behind them acquiring the services of this engine. Exits Games claims the Photons’s technology to offer the market’s only commercial socket server and network engine featuring reliable UDP (RUDP), a C/C++-based core and a server that is extensible in C#.

“We are extremely honored that Photon was chosen once more by an AAA publisher and studio,” shared, Christof Wegmann, CTO of Exit Games. “Codemasters has developed and published so many stunning games and now the company’s next online game titles will all be powered by our Photon engine. I think it really proves that we are on track with Photon to become the leading network engine not only for Unity projects, but on all platforms.”

Codemasters will employ Photon as its core network technology for multiple upcoming online games. The features that this network engine is equipped with are apparently ideal for the development of MMOGs or first person shooters.

With F1 Online The Game, being the only title which has been announced to be developed using this technology, looks like we’ll have to wait and watch to know about other games that Codemasters plans to create using Exit Games’ Photon network engine.
